Devastation of the Indies-Questons

1a. They subjugated them, and used them to prepare the food, and only give them a little to keep them alive to still work for them.

2a. The Spaniards made a rule that for every Christian slain by the Indians they would slay 100 Indians.

3a. They are only given codfish which isn't very nourishing, they are also given maize bread. At night they are chained down so they don't escape. Some of the times the pearl divers don't return to the ship because the waters are infested with man eating sharks. If they come up for air and they look tired their hair is pulled, showered with blows, and forced back into the water to work some more.
Infernal.

4a. Making them suffer, not letting them eat, and treating them like they are nothing goes against all their christian ways.

1b. Because they are fat, and want all the food they can get. They are greedy, and the indians don't eat as much.

2b. To get rid of any desire for the natives to rebel.

3b. They all die, either get eaten by sharks, or get pneumonia.

4b. For money and greed. It was the same until 1515 until he realized it was wrong.

Vocabulary Words- 1

1) Callous- Adjective 
         showing or having an insensitive and cruel disregard for others

His callous attitude showed that he was heartless towards others. 


2) Capricious- Adjective
         given to sudden and unaccountable changes of mood or behavior

The capricious teacher out of nowhere changed his mind and gave us all pop quizzes instead of going on a field trip.


3) Cajole- Verb
         persuade someone to do something by sustained coaxing or flattery
The hitchhiker cajoled the women to giver her a ride up the road by telling her his wife was about to give birth. So she gave in, then he killed her and stole her car.


4) Censure- Verb
        Harsh Criticism 
The teacher had to censure the students attitude in class, because he punched another student. 


5) Catalyst- Noun
         Something that causes change
The rotting milk was a catalyst to the fridges smell. 


6) Caustic- Adjective
         Bitter, Sarcastic

My caustic remarks to the teacher about his knowledge of literature made him send me to the principals office. 


7) Capitulate- Verb
         cease to resist an opponent or an unwelcome demandsurrender

The english capitulated to the chinese when they came over with giant robot guns. 


8) Celestial- Adjective 
        positioned in or relating to the skyor outer space as observed in astronomy
The celestial body was moving fast towards earth. 


9) Catharsis- Noun
        the process of releasing, and thereby providing relief from, strong or repressed emotions. 
The boy experienced catharsis after finding out who killed his mom. 


10) Carping- Verb
         complain or find fault continually, typically about trivial matters
The students kept carping about the upcoming test, so the teacher gave them a week to study.

Iroquois Constitution- Questions

      He is the Chief confederate lord of the onondaga, on whose land the council fire was lit.

3a. He furnishes four strings of shells or wampum one span in length bound together at one end.
      It shows that his pledge to the confederate lords, that he will live according to the constitution of the great peace and exercise justice in all affairs.

4a. They give thanks to trees, animals, winds, thunderers, the sun, and the moon. The tree is also a symbol for peace.

5a. Yes, to be a good leader you have to be truthful to your tribe, and your heart should be filled with peace and good will. You should also be able to build a strong surface for the unborn to grow on.

1b. He is welcoming the new lords, and showing them their gratitude and greeting them.
      To make sure that they keep in mind whats best for the people.

2b. Because their tribes were close like family. But some of the people within their own tribe could be related.

3b. A leader should have a heart filled with peace and good will, and have patience. They shouldn't have furry or anger.

4b. They revolved around it. They treasured everything it gave to them, and would always thank it.
