Devastation of the Indies-Questons

1a. They subjugated them, and used them to prepare the food, and only give them a little to keep them alive to still work for them.

2a. The Spaniards made a rule that for every Christian slain by the Indians they would slay 100 Indians.

3a. They are only given codfish which isn't very nourishing, they are also given maize bread. At night they are chained down so they don't escape. Some of the times the pearl divers don't return to the ship because the waters are infested with man eating sharks. If they come up for air and they look tired their hair is pulled, showered with blows, and forced back into the water to work some more.
Infernal.

4a. Making them suffer, not letting them eat, and treating them like they are nothing goes against all their christian ways.

1b. Because they are fat, and want all the food they can get. They are greedy, and the indians don't eat as much.

2b. To get rid of any desire for the natives to rebel.

3b. They all die, either get eaten by sharks, or get pneumonia.

4b. For money and greed. It was the same until 1515 until he realized it was wrong.
